Crocosmia and Chasmanthe is a botanical, horticultural and artistic collaboration of unusual expertise. Peter Goldblatt, Curator of African Botany at the Missouri Botanical Garden, is one of the world’s leading experts on the iris family. He and John Manning, research scientist at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, work together on a variety of projects, including study of the pollination of Crocosmia and Chasmanthe by sunbirds, butterflies and bees. Gary Dunlop gardens in County Down, Northern Ireland, and has bred a number of Crocosmia cultivars in addition to investigating the history and practice of cultivation of the genera.
