INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE ************************************************************ General Installation Notes: 1. The Intel Chipset Identification Utility can be run using either of the following methods: 1.a. During the download process, select 'Run this program from its current location.' The Intel Chipset Identification Utility should open and run once it has been successfully downloaded. 1.b. During the download process, select 'Save this program to disk.' Once the file has been saved to your hard drive, go to that location and double-click on CHIPUTIL_280.EXE. The Intel Chipset Identification Utility should open and run. ************************************************************ * 4. UPDATING THE SOFTWARE ************************************************************ If you have a newer Intel chipset component, it may not be detected by this version of the Intel Chipset Identification Utility. If an 'Update' button appears under the 'Utility Note' section when you run the utility, you may have the ability to update your current version. Please follow the steps below in order to update the utility: 1. Click on the 'Update' button. The Intel Chipset Identification Utility will check the Intel website to determine if a newer version is available. Note: An Internet connection must be detected. Please note that no personal information of any type is sent or obtained during the update process. The utility simply checks Intel’s website and will attempt to update the version you currently have if a newer version is detected. ************************************************************ * 5. GENERATING THE LOG FILE ************************************************************ The log file provides the PCI information that the Intel(R) Chipset Identification Utility uses to identify your chipset. If you believe that the Intel Chipset Identification Utility is either not properly reporting your chipset or if you have a support question, please generate the log file and send the log file with your question to Intel technical support. 1. Run the utility from a command line prompt (e.g. Start Button / Run) and type in: C:\DownloadLocation\chiputil.exe -log Note: If there are spaces in the folder name, you will need to include quotes (e.g. "C:\My Download Files\chiputil.exe" -log) Using the -log switch will generate a log file called chiputil.log in the C:\DownloadLocation folder. Please open the chiputil.log file and copy the information contained in this file and paste it into your support email along with your question. Note: You may be prompted with an 'Open With' dialog box; simply select Notepad* to open the .log file. ************************************************************ * 6. UNINSTALLING THE SOFTWARE ************************************************************ 1. No uninstallation is required; simply delete the file. ************************************************************ ************************************************************ * INTEL SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT * (OEM/IHV Distribution & Single User) ************************************************************ IMPORTANT - READ BEFORE COPYING, INSTALLING OR USING.
