In Ravage D.C.X., you take on the role of PFC Eugene Jenkins, a human soldier fighting against alien invaders who take advantage of a government trans-dimensional experiment gone wrong. Before the final confrontation in and under Washington, D.C., the Necron must be stopped in six different dimensions, which can be played in any order. The non-linear approach extends only to the six realms, not the path of advancement in this rail-shooter.
Movement through the various environments is pre-assigned for tanks, planes, and walking, with the player in control of aiming and firing weapons. The enemy uses similar modes of transportation as they return the favor of intended annihilation. The D.C. setting is the exception to the free choice of battle locations, as the enemy must be defeated in all six dimensions before the final push to save the world.
Cut-scenes bridge the transition when changing various weapons or vehicles, offer storyline advancements, and update you to the overall events and status of the ongoing war. A quasi-panoramic viewpoint is offered during battle scenes, but the path of the character is set in stone. Ravage D.C.X. offers limited weapons (grenades, smart bombs and lasers), linear combat paths, and a chance to shoot aliens indiscriminately. |
